Archive for March, 2011

Greetings Everyone,

Today we went back in the water and back on board.  Six weeks living in the van is probably five weeks too long and I’m sure we’d have gone up the wall if one of our friends in Bundy hadn’t made her home available to us.  Anyway the boat seems BIG.

The repairs have gone well — a VERY shiny paint job, new batteries, anchor chain and anchor, sonar transducer, davits and window and a repaired dinghy.  It cost us just over $2000 for excess and extras and almost $40,000 for the insurance company.  Phil says the boat is better than new.

I’m leaving Monday to go by public transport to Brunswick Heads for my Mum’s 90th birthday.  Dad had his 96th last month and they are both doing well.  Phil will be batching and promises to get all his cleaning up done while I’m away. (She might have to stay there until the 91st birthday!!)

We won’t be leaving early in view of the extreme weather conditions this year but hope to set off at a more leisurely pace up the coast to Townsville by the end of April or early May.  We already have an accumulation of goods that will lower the plimsol line several inches and tax our living space.

We are expecting a great year for 2011.

God bless you all,

Pam and Phi
